Coffee shop costing

Coffee Shop Drink Cost Calculator

Check the direct cost of espresso drinks, iced coffee, milk drinks, and specialty café beverages using the package sizes and recipe amounts your shop actually uses.

Which coffee costs should you include?

List the ingredients and serving items that change with each cup: coffee beans, milk, alternative milk, syrup, sauce, cocoa, ice, toppings, cup, lid, and straw. A package price and the amount used per drink are enough for a focused first check.

Build the recipe one ingredient at a time

  1. Record the price and usable quantity of a coffee bean or milk package.
  2. Convert the recipe amount to the same compatible unit as the package.
  3. Add other direct costs that belong to one cup, such as packaging or a topping.
  4. Compare the resulting cost with the selling price you are considering.

Illustrative coffee example

If a 1,000 g coffee package costs $18 and an espresso recipe uses 18 g, the coffee portion is $0.324. Add milk, syrup, and packaging as separate direct costs so you can see which input affects the total. These figures are an example only; enter your shop's own values in the calculator.

Use the result as a review, not a promise

The calculator shows cost per drink, profit, margin, and markup from the numbers entered. It does not automatically account for rent, labor, waste, tax, delivery fees, or every other operating expense.
